Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pathways to Readiness?

Pathways to Readiness an all-inclusive educational resource for families and students in grades PreK-8 who need learning support in areas such as phonics, reading, writing, vocabulary, math, and work habits. Our services include comprehensive assessments, interpreting school assessments and data, providing one-on-one enhanced tutoring sessions, completing homeschool evidence of progress evaluations, creating individualized Student Action Plans, and more that are all aimed at building confidence in supporting your child’s individual learning journey. All of our goals and activities are research and evidence based. We work with families in all learning environments and can meet virtually or in-person.

What is the difference between Pathways to Readiness and tutoring?

Tutors are very valuable team members in our learning communities, but they are often desired to provide assistance with completing homework assignments and preparing for tests. Tutoring creates more success if the root of the struggle is known. Pathways to Readiness is unique in that we provide one-on-one enhanced tutoring sessions that include a comprehensive assessment, individualized Student Action Plan, routine progress monitoring, and final progress report. Our Student Action Plans focus on specific areas of mastery and areas of need, use targeted strategies to explicitly instruct and practice, and use data to plan and make decisions. The goal of targeting specific areas of need is to build mastery of current curriculum.

How can Pathways to Readiness help families and students?

All parents dream of their children progressing and excelling in school. In a traditional classroom setting, the demands on teachers have grown. The curriculum moves quickly, and that impacts the ability to master skills before it is time to move on. The curriculum standards and the pace of teaching concepts can be frustrating and unsatisfying for many. School terminology is confusing. The purpose of certain assignments or assessments is not understood. The results and scores of the assignments or assessments is not clear. Skills are taught differently from how parents learned it in school. There is uncertainty with knowing if students are where they should be.
Pathways to Readiness understands all of these concerns and is here to help families and students feel confident on their learning journey. We conduct one-on-one assessments to give families piece of mind and understanding of their student’s present level of performance. We create individualized Student Action Plans to support specific areas of need by using research-based strategies. We implement the Student Action Plan in a one-on-one enhanced tutoring session. We also help homeschool families by completing yearly evidence of progress evaluations, organizing home learning routines and lesson plans, and helping to interpret assessment results.
